Hello my new prebuilt Alienware R8 has 2x PCIE 4x and 1x PCIE 8x.

I was wondering how do you use them? From my research I see that I could plug in an adapter for 4x that supports x2 NVME SSDs? Would the best go to waste because it's a 4x and the bit rate is lower?

So it would be better to use the cheapest NVME as it will be capped anyway? I'm just looking to max out storage

Yeah unless you can do something else with those slots? Just looking around but if not yeah I want to max out storage.

u probably have 2x nvme slots allready, which should be enough, given that u can easy add 2TB in those, if not u can use sata ports..

extra pcie slots is pretty much useless imo, use to be for stuff like SLI, wifi, capture card, extra usb ports or other connections..

if u wanna upgrade a prebuild alienware, u should probably check thermals and see if better case/cooling could be improve

Could use dedicated physics card but only helps in a few games.
Pcie fans/wifi cards/sound cards/raid cards/led or cathode lighting
TV turner/capture cards/usb or other expansion cards.

Im more curious as to why you feel the need to occupy the slots...
