my post is entirely about the democrats' establishment, you illiterate. i'm pointing out their calculations and lack of real principles on the issue.
that republicans are spineless crooks who would never turn against their leader is a given...

You're right, my bad. I wrongly assumed your rant to be targetted at Republicans, as usual. Sorry!

the sorry is unnecessary. your expectations were not unreasonable all things considered, so it's a forgivable mistake to make. sorry about the 'illiterate'.

This is not about withholding insider knowledge about crimes or obstructing justice, this is about stretching out a political process due to political calculation, which is perfectly legal and not thaaat unethical either if you ask me.

Framing the fact that the Republican establishment did not overthrow the verdict of the American people (to elect Trump president although the GOP establishment hates his guts) at the first opportunity as a "shitty political calcuation" is quite the spin, isnt it?

Fortysomething percent isn't exactly a mandate.

Wilson, Truman, Kennedy, Nixon, Clinton and Bush43 all won presidential races with "fortysomething percent".

Also, losing the popular vote does not necessarily delegitimize a president when the race was not fought for maximizing the popular vote in the first place. We dont know how the 2016 race would have played out if both campaigns had tried to win the popular vote instead of the EC.

For example, Trump did significantly worse in California and Texas than previous Republicans. I think it is safe to assume that if him and Hillary had both intensely campaigned in these populous states, then Trump would have had more upside than her.

I think its kind of fitting that the news of the death of Rep. Cummings, a man who for better or worse made impassioned pleas for sanity and restoration of civility and understanding, was overshadowed by the fanatic TDS media & democrats obsessing over Mulvaney making a boneheaded gaffe and immediately correcting himself, thinking that a misstatement that contradicts not only the established position of the administration but also all the verifiable facts and sworn testimony from everyone else, is a bombshell that could impeach the president. Cummings body isn't even in the ground and people are frothing over some trivial nonsense that a rational society could move on from in 5 seconds.

Cummings signed subpoenas on his death bed. He'd want whatever it takes to take down this corrupt administration. The Mulvaney admission is another step along the road.

Flipping Texas would be a pretty damning indictment of his presidency tbh.

In 2018, they had a strong, exicting "popstar" candidate running against Ted Cruz, the most unlikable human being on this planet and one of the weakest incumbents in the whole Senate; in a D+8.6 national environment; with an unprecedented 2:1 fundraising advantage in the Democrat's favor - and they still fell short.

The fundamentals in 2020 wont get any better than that for the Democrats. They will probably be substantially worse.
Texas might turn blue eventually, but not yet in 2020.
