Was updating the bios for my motherboard m5a99x Evo r2
Had the .cap file from Asus driver page on my usb
I had the usb formatted to NTFS because the tutorial said to do so
Booted into bios used the Asus ez flash, successfully installed
Reboot and it goes straight into recovery mode and is asking for 99xevor2.cap but that's not the named of the file I was using to do the driver install in the first place

I'm so fucked pls halp

First thing... relax.

ASUS neglects to tell us that before we flash the BIOS we have to rename the .cap file to something like shorthand for the motherboard model.

Just rename the .cap file you DL'd to 99xevor2.cap, and flash the BIOS again. Side note" You are supposed to set the BIOS to "Optimized Defaults" before you flash, also.

I'm on my 5th ASUS motherboard... I've had to rename the .cap file too. It will work. :)

/e If you need or want to start completely over... you can also "revert" the BIOS to what is was previously. It'll be called ASUS Crash Free BIOS I believe.

Gimme a sec to get your manual...

/e If you have a decent connection... just try the internet way of flashing it.

/ee ASUS has extra BIOS chips they used to sell ( if anyone really destroyed their BIOS) They were like $15... and the BIOS chip isn't soldered in on those motherboards. There's a 4/4 socket it just plugs into.

I am currently running the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 motherboard...mine flashed after a rename... no problems. BIOS version 2901. It looks like the highest version for your board is 2501.

Seems ASUS doesn't sell the BIOS chips anymore but I found some one who does... if worst comes to worst.

Do you have a link to the tutorial you followed?
