so you feel that scientology and mormonism have just as much potential truth as judaism and christianity...?

i dont think that you have to believe in one particular religion to believe that some of them just plain make no sense.

a whole lot clearer stated like this. now i see that it was a direct reply/continuation of my statement. try reading it on its own with no context and see if it makes any sense...

and yes, a religion can make sense and seem plausible, even to someone who doesnt believe it.

some guy looking in a hat to decipher magic tablets that only he can translate and cant do it more than once doesnt make sense.

Its not sillier than an avatar of god sacrificing himself to himself to appease himself because the creatures he designed knowing they would break his rules broke his rules.

i agree thats pretty silly, too. but on a scale of one to ten (silliest), id rate that a 6. mormonism is a straight up ten.

Disagree. I think its like a 9, mormonism is sillier but only because it contains that and adds to it

just have to agree to disagree on that, but im not wrong. one CAN think some are sillier than others, even if believing in none, and even think some make sense. not everyone will be that way, but its certainly possible.

Unless you already believe or have a heavy investment any religion sounds pretty silly. People dont just wake up one day believing scientology, theyre groomed over years to accept increasingly silly things. People also dont believe christianity as a default, theres a whole host of culty mechanisms to get that planted in your mind.

i disagree. i think its entirely possible to not believe in any form of god, but still think that "well, if there WERE a god, this one would make kinda sense" but still reject the basic assumption of the existence of a god. certainly, some are more believable than others. you dont have to actually believe it to think that one sounds bat-shit insane, while the other is only mildly implausible. equating all religions/cults as equally silly/improbable is just dumb. some makes claims that are more outlandish than others. it doesnt require belief in one to recognize that.
