Somebody doesn't get a pass for doing wrong because they change course after everybody tells them they were doing wrong. He should have had the foresight to know what he was doing was one of the most blatant acts of corruption in modern American history.
well, he was offering to do it at cost, as in no profit. Not the same thing as offering it for 'free' in the absolute sense, but kind of in the sense you thought he wasn't doing.

you could argue it would attract business and outside expenditures beyond the venue rent and services, but I think you're under a mistaken impression here
