Should I go back to nm and get 4os spirit shield or keep the good map and continue to look for 4os mon?

I think you could make a copy of the *.ma0 to *.ma5 files in d2 folder and replace them after socketing.

I personally would cube socket it, chance for 4soc is 50%.

IMO it’s very rarely worth using a socket quest for something that can be done in the cube. Definitely the case for monarchs - they drop quite frequently on MF runs in lvl85 areas.

Another vote for trying your luck with the cube Even if it doesn’t roll 4 sockets, chances are another plain one (or even 4os already if you’re lucky) will drop soon enough.

you should NEVER use soxet quest on white items if you make endgame char (sure use if only want to kill baal)

roll them with cube and hope to get lucky

if you already running at... next monarch will drop in few runs

Keep your good maps

Before u deal with editing your D2 folders u could just cube roll the shield and if it don't become 4 sockets u could Control, Alt, Delete and close the D2 program thru tasks manager (it will reset to your last save point) and u can keep rolling the same shield.

Sounds like cheating. Just install hero editor instead

Cheating of course but alot easier than editing files (which I would consider cheating also)
Some people arent smart enough to work with hero editor either (me being 1 of them idiots) I can use the basics but cant create an item, lol.
