Why does this have to have any relation with sexual orientation?

If you are HIV-positive, know about it and expose your sex partners repeatedly without their knowledge, you should be tried for "physical injury resulting from negligence".
If you expose them repeatedly, and an intention to spread your HIV can be proven in court, then you should be tried for attempted murder.

All of this works irrespective from if you're hetero, gay, lesbian or anything else.

It is because of who has it, stupid. And you don't sign a disclaimer about any other sexually transmitted disease.

Lol nice spin.

Getting tested means you know if you have/don’t have a deadly virus that needs treatment.

Too much to ask for people to be decent and not expose others to life long viruses.

You have to think about what will actually happen. This is happening. Denial is a strong coping skill.

On the street people seem to think prep will stop transmission.

Irrespective on one's opinion regarding the intentional transmission of HIV, it doesn't make much sense for it to be tried as "attempted murder". There's no end of life, especially with respect to immediacy, when HIV is transmitted.

Fair point, but it would easily qualify as grievous bodily harm.

Laws like this will discourage promiscuous gay men from being tested at all. Getting tested is just exposing yourself to legal risk as long as the gay disease is being treated different than any other disease.

It would be the government just acting too late and ineffectively as usual.

It isn't 1990 anymore though. Getting tested now means you can have a normal life expectancy (if medications are taken appropriately) compared to what it used to be a decade ago, let alone several decades ago. You are literally killing yourself by not getting tested, in crude fashion at that.

The medications are also covered under medicare

Why should he have to disclose? Personally I find it arousing to sleep with somebody who might be infected, so I don't want the government in our bedroom with their obligation to disclose big government nonsense.

You liberals are all the same, you don't let people take personal responsibility. If I don't want aids I'll take the appropriate precautions, it's not the governments job to protect me from myself!

Agreed so far

but punishing people after they harm others isn't at all the same thing as the government 'protecting you from yourself'

The government is acknowledging that you are free to engage sex however you want and face the consequences. Punishing the infector in no way lessens those consequences for the people who got infected. They are still solely responsible for taking personal responsibility to protect themselves.
