same, other than Price.. i can't recall.
Vasilevsky seems most recent/closest but i dont see him as generational
Askarov is only 17 and he pretty much solo carried his way to win most of his achievements so far and has better numbers than vasil did
he upset USA/Canada when they had one of the strongest rosters in years

If Detroit some how falls out of the top 6 in the upcoming draft i wouldnt mind drafting Askarov. Stevie drafted Vasilevski (with the pick from detroit in exchange for kyle fuckin quincy... :fume: lol) so i wouldnt say its out of the realm of possibility.

Never easy to determine how well a player will transition to the NHL - Let alone a goalie.

I think that is why teams stay away from drafting goalies early, even if they have proven how good they are.

From years of watching WJC there have been so many goalies Canada had that played so well only to fizzle out in terms of cracking the NHL. I have not followed the other teams as closely but I would imagine it would be a similar outcome.

The same goes for players, but it seems to me (I may be wrong) that a goalie putting on a strong performance at the underage/amateur level is an even lesser indication of success at the NHL level than the players.

I would love to see a generational goaltending talent come up, but based on the odds I am holding my breath.

I think the % of failure is pretty much the same, you have to take in consideration that there are 20 time more players than goalies

Im sure there arent much 1st round failure except subban and maybe dipietro in the last 15-20 year

looking at askarovs stats they dont seem super impressive specially those playoff stats... looks like his team got swept and hes got some pretty rough #s
his regular season #s though are worse then a flyers prospect from the same league 3 seasons 17-20 whos coming to NA this year to likely play in the echl

however those are stats from a rookie season idk shit about the teams and hes only 17 but im kinda with KYA im not getting excited about a "generational goalie" his stats dont seem all that impressive

This, also if you look at some elite Canadian goalies like price, maf, brodeur, luongo etc. They never had insane numbers early in juniors, plus Canada teams are usually str0ng.

This kid already has good numbers in his 1st 2 yrs and single handedly got gold for his country as an under ager against stronger than usual USA and Canada roster. I mean it doesn't mean he will 100% translate that into NHL but I can see why some label him as generational. I hope he becomes 1 tho, would be nice to see one since it's been too long.

Drago r u talking about Fedotov?
