So i'm running on C: drive which has windows on it.... So i'm currently using this drive..
Although oddly D: drive is using 100% in resource monitor(task manager under performance tab)
I don't see why D: drive should be using anything since i'm not running it?

When you say "drive is using 100%", which category is it? Are you looking on the Overview tab in Resource Monitor and seeing high usage under CPU, Disk, Network, or Memory? There should be a way to find what's causing this. We just need to look at the right place at the right time. Let's just start here so I have a better understanding of what you're looking at. Also, please tell me which operating system and if it's fully up to date.

First guess is possibly virus scan.

Depends heavily on whats running on pc and if d is being accessed.
Could be a service/virus/bloaty application/driver.

Rule out virus by installing malware bytes
boot into safe mode and run it if you find shit then i mean do a proper clean out of system.

Dsiable known services to cause high disk usage and applications from start up.

Update drivers/software.

If issue persists let me know.
