I cannot seem to figure out witch is better is there a consensus on this?

if p1 some would say chain lightning but still would just use lightning

depends on the situation.
If the monsters are mostly lined up then lightning...if they're all spread out then I tend to do a quick switch over to chain lightning.
95% of the time I find myself using lightning.

if you enjoy killing crap mobs chain lightning is good. otherwise just use lightning

I use Chain/Light/Light/Chain

By the time Chain goes through all the surrounding mobs, you can get off two lighting before you chain again.
