Wondering which of these professions would be the most profitable.

I'm planning on rolling an undead lock. Soloing devilsaurs would be fairly straightforward...that is assuming there aren't 20 other people doing the same...

I think a lot of 'high-value' skinning takes place in dungeons?

What about high-value herbalism? What zones would you primarily be farming gromsblood/black lotus? If those are in fact what you farm as a herbalist?

Anyone have input?

Thx.

you know whats boring ? picking herbs at lvl 60. it just feels like your time is being wasted.

skinning isnt so bad because you skin stuff you kill, and bosses and raid stuff too.

at least with mining you can find high value nodes in dungeons

I hear you. Thanks. I think I agree that at least you are killing something with skinning...

Anyone have any other info/opinions to weigh in with?

it definitely will - there's no doubt about that; the question is whether the stuff that you skin (in dungeons etc, devilsaur leather etc.) will outweigh da herb.

how can someone predict a server that doesn't even exist's economy, node spawns, and amount of other skinners/herbalists? even comparing to a private server is a shot in the dark considering they most likely didn't use the same algorithm for node spawns that blizz will use.

Herb will be a lot better. Everyone and their mother will be skinning at first. Plus if you combine herb with alch and get early flask recipes you'll be drowning in the gold. That is if you put the time and effort into getting all the herbs / lotus and going into scholo for the lab.

Short term - Skinning. Eassy to grind, you get a lot of vendor trash etc, but the market will be flooded with leathers

Long term - Herb. Won't give you much money until late game but eventually it will pay off huge

Depends. If you're going to nolife the game with friends and be one of the top players on the server then skinning/leatherworking could be insane. If you can be one of the first to get to devilsaurs and run a "Devilsaur Mafia" with a few friends and make a fortune.

Since I'm a filthy casual, I'll most likely just start with skinning/herbalism then go into alchemy/herbalism later. Seems better for making money and convenience.
