After trying to forward the ports through my router and not succeeding, I took the router out of the equation. I directly connected to my modem (I have a separate modem and router), disabled software firewalls, and AV security. I ran D2, checked the ports, and it still says they are closed. Comcast says they do not block 6112 or 4000. Can anyone else using Comcast confirm they have these ports open?

how are you checking the ports? aka after you removed your router, what method are you using to ensure the port is open? There are network scan tools you can scan yourself with from another IP, or just scan your external IP on that specific port while the service is listening.

Sorry, I haven't been on JSP for a bit. I figured this out confirmed and Comcast does not block the ports. I never trust them, but had to ask.

The ports aren't relevant, unless you're playing Open Battle.net or TCP/IP games. I used multiple sites, including programs Wireshark and Nmap to test the ports. There must be something making a request to the port for it to "open." You have to run these tests while the game (application) is trying to use the ports. After doing some traceroutes and MTRs, I found there was a specific hop that would frequently spike. And this is where I believe it ends.

Blizzard first suggested checking the ports when I submitted a help ticket, however, it was clear they did not apply to the mode I was playing. Their support is still the best I've experienced.
