Gold is worthless, because there is no in game economy. I don't know what "empower a rift" means but it sounds terrible -take a lap.

Game was fun for about 3 months until people realized that the game was horribly designed and quickly quit.

Such a shame. I was very much looking forward to D3. Have a ton of hours and gear on there too.

dude ifyou want to play it, then you should. they've been updating the game for quite awhile now and the most recent patch has made the game even better than before. i play the shit out of D2, but I also LOVE D3. tons of people talk shit on it and I understand because as a successor to D2, it's horrible. but as a stand alone game, it's fucking perfection.
the grinding is intense lots of fun. build variety is insanely complex. my only complaint is that rares are literally shit compared to set and legendary items. if you want someone to play with, lmk.

Check out Xhiril's SA post about our proper diablo 3 discussion posts. this guy is legitimately angered, and it's glorious. Xhiril, if you are reading this, please give us all an accurate, straight-no-chaser, descriptive response detailing just how angry you are.

also, to keep it on topic, no you can't sell FG for real coins, don't be silly
