Hey yall, I was wondering what would be a good gaming laptop. I dont play "hardcore" games mostly just diablo 3. But i do use tribox.

I know a laptop isnt the "ideal" gaming Machine but i travel for work and want to take it with me.

so right now i have a Mac book pro With 16gig of ram, i7 (gen 8) processor (put windows on it with bootcamp) (it gets pretty warm when i play)

but want to get a full PC. My budget is around 2k 2.5 if im really impressed.

Kind of wondering what i should go with next.

should i go with Alian ware? and just have Dell build it? or is there a better company out there for laptops?

Edit: I guess what im asking, is what Processor, gfx card, ram should i be aiming for also

thanks in advance

adam

razer blade 15 seems nice but I wouldn’t recommend a laptop for competetive gaming - although razer does have a 144hz 1080p configuration which is pretty cool.

if u want a hybrid for work, i would recommend the surface book personally, 3rd gen is coming soon with ice lake+rtx card option probably.

Dell i don’t recommend because of qc issues tbh, but dell xps is a solid machine spec wise vs pp.

i7 minimum, gtx 1060+, 8 gb ram is fine but most configs will come with 16 - make sure whatever processor you get has 4 cores minimum and a high TDP so it can maintain frequency if u are playing cpu intensive games or running emulators.

seems OK, although alienware gets flak for using cheap components, i haven’t had any big issues with their stuff.

config you chose is running 6-core, 45W TDP processor and with 1080p, 144hz, it will run hot, even with adequate cooling - but that is to be expected in most gaming laptops.

you may want to go for upgraded battery option for $50 more since the laptop will be very power hungry.

as for last a long time, i agree spec wise but if thermals are constantly high, it may not last as long as you think - keep in mind this is the same processor a macbook pro 2018 uses, and that thing runs hot

gotcha, yeah i have a macbook pro now. 2017 model i believe. and it dose run very hot if/when i game on it. i have a cooling pad, and another fan that blows directly on it. and it seems to help a lot. as far as the battery i did click that upgrade, im not sure why it didnt translate in the link, but thats very good advise. i agree 100%.

the reason i like dell is because the parts availability if something goes wrong, i can get it fixed relatively cheap

it is a nice machine for sure, my only concern would be it overheating.

all gaming laptops will heat up.. but some can maintain clock speed better then others.. so u should probably look up some reviews

i just hate gaming on laptop keyboards and they moved it down on the Zephyrus which seems like a good idea imo, also has abit differnt cooling system but dont know if any good tbh
