thanks for replies in other thread but it was over 3 months old and cannot respond in thread...

How does this one look? for $309. seems decent price?

Acer Aspire 3, 15.6" HD, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, 8GB DDR4, 1TB HDD, Windows 10 Home, A315-41-R132

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Acer-Aspire-3-15-6-HD-AMD-Ryzen-5-2500U-8GB-DDR4-1TB-HDD-Windows-10-Home-A315-41-R132/609137323?irgwc=1&sourceid=imp_TsU1PV1eqxyJUB90GBQcExbTUklRyT3NszJA0A0&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_10451&clickid=TsU1PV1eqxyJUB90GBQcExbTUklRyT3NszJA0A0

hmmm damn, actually its not 1080p, figures for that price. really would prefer a nice 1080p laptop. maybe a bit more expensive idk.

If you can up your budget a bit bestbuy has an Acer nitro 5 onsale for 579

I just picked one up and it's a kick ass machine it's got a 256 m.2 SSD and has an open HDD/SSD slot that I added a 500gb evo860 SSD to

ok.... so ive upgraded my budget to 600 to 700 for laptop. prefer to keep it around 600. ive realized 600 is a better budget
its very difficult to tell if a laptop has a second slot for a 2nd ssd to upgrade later, any tricks to finding this out?

needs to be 15.6 inch screen, FHD 1080p.
Needs to have num pad

prefer at least 256 gb ssd and needs to have a 2nd space for another ssd to add later

needs to have i5 cpu or equivalent amd cpu

Thanks!

I saw that gaming acer nitro in person. its nice but a bit too bulky. i really dont need a gpu and that adds weight that isnt good to always carry around

spend at least 1k for a laptop - it will save you money and time - anything cheaper is honestly not worth it

This laptop seems to have a single 4gb ram chip soldered into the motherboard. with an extra slot for ram to add? looks like alot of these have an extra 4gb, 8gb, or 16 gb ram stick added to the 4gb that is soldered? how would that affect the ram? i thought you should only add a ram stick that is the same size? 4 and 4, not 4 gb and 8 gb stick
