The premise of FortNite and Search and Destroy is more similar to HC then SC

Alright, we can judge this objectively. Which mode has the most talented players.

1. PvP - I'm just going to ignore this category since practically all notable PvPers play softcore.

2. PvM - When you look at the top of the leaderboards for SC and HC - it's the same players (indrek, llama, teo etc.) - who are all predominantly playing on softcore while occasionally going to HC to set a record.

Please name a few recognisable players who are exclusively HC.

PvP is softcore
PvM hardcore

Nah I think you're just in the camp of delusional people who think that HC makes you good.

If you think about it rationally, it is guaranteed that the best players for either mode will always be in softcore. To become good at something, you need to push your limits and that will certainly result in a large number of deaths before you get the experience to avoid death by a small fraction. That's why every practically every HC record is held by an SC player. Meanwhile, people who pride themselves on playing only HC are generally afraid of dying and so they take excessive precautions to prevent death which leads to inefficient builds and weaker play skill because there's so much redundancy built into your gear.

And all the best gamers are nerds - so if you aren't one then you're probably pretty noob and not really qualified to comment.
