Yeah, but he's the guy looking for help so he gets a pass lol

U didn't put a comma after the word "help" to separate your 2 independent clauses... ur pathetic.

We are on d2jsp. Most of us dont type formally because there's no need.
But since u are the one pointing his mistakes out I assume u shouldnt have any mistakes yourself, right?

E/ especially since it's the same type of mistake you corrected in his post

Lmfao. It looks like I have to give you an English lesson.

"he gets a pass lol" is an independent clause; however, I used a conjunction "so" to separate it from the other independent clause "he's the guy looking for help." There's NO comma necessary for my sentence to be grammatically correct.

Nice try though, kid.

*P.S. - This is the Homework Helpline. Formality and accuracy ARE important on this specific sub-forum of D2Jsp. How do you think the original poster would feel if he turned in an assignment chock full of errors because he received improper guidance on here?

Yes there is a comma needed. You're wrong. One of 3 things are needed: conjunction and comma, semi-colon, or period.

You don't need formal english in a casual setting. This is d2jsp. He is not turning in his D2jsp posts.

https://writingcommons.org/process/edit/use-correct-punctuation/commas/357-use-commas-to-join-two-or-more-independent-clauses

"You do not need to place a comma between two independent clauses if they are short and similar in meaning, provided that no misunderstanding will take place, as illustrated in the following example:

Some doctors advertise their services but many doctors find this reprehensible.
The absence of the comma in this sentence is acceptable; it is not necessary to prevent misreading."

Keep trying.

Lol. You must've spent like an hour reading through all of these because you can't admit that you're wrong. It is EXTREMELY well-known and accepted that commas are optional when separating two simple independent clauses with a conjunction. It's only necessary when there's confusion or the possibility of a run-on sentence, which generally doesn't occur with two simple clauses. This scenario is similar to the use of the Oxford comma, where both forms of the sentence are grammatically correct whether the comma is included or not. I simply linked a source for you to reference because, as dense as you are, I figured you could do some reading to educate yourself. Apparently, I was wrong.

So, let me spell it out for you as simply as I can (and you know what, I'm going to break grammar for this part because you're right... grammar in d2jsp posts doesn't matter lololol) -

YOU. ARE. WRONG.

Go find something better to do with your time instead of trying to troll me with your elementary understanding of grammar and the English language.

I didn't read one of them. I simply know I'm right. You can read them all and see if any say anything different, and I'll shut up.

Go ahead find me sources of your widely accepted belief. Don't waste time typing. You're the one who brought sources into this.

you say "grammatically correct" another reason I can't take you seriously.

You're obviously taking me seriously, considering that you're still responding LOL.

You're so mad that you're wrong.

It needs a comma. There are some situations where you can bend the use and non-use of commas depending on stressed meaning of the prose, but not in that specific situation. Usually in fiction.
