Can I upgrade my GPU without upgrading CPU?

Add another 8gb stick
Throw in a GTX 1060/1660ti or better.

even a amd 590 works, though it would help to know your psu wattage op.

Add an 8gb stick of 2133 cl15 RAM and an rx 570/580 IMO. Consider undervolting for better per wattage performance.

My psu is 550w I believe, possibly 650

580 is best price to teh dollar but 40$ more gets you 15% more increase with the 590.
the 1660ti is 40$ more then 590 with another 15% increase.

The 1060 though is just a bad buy all around atm as its more then a 590 but also weaker.
your psu will work with all cards i listed above.

most people still don't need a 2nd stick
I'd suggest just focusing on a GPU

What? Single channel literally halves your data rate...

So a 580 or 590 and possible ram upgrades should see me some improvements?
How worth it is the upgrade to 16gb ram and am I better off getting another 8gb stick or just getting a single 16gb stick

majority of games dont benefit from it but there are few that do if I remember right it was like a few

but overall system usage outside of gaming I would still go dual or more
