The way hit checks work for ww is that you get a free hit check at frame 2 on your main hand weapon, and after that the weapons will hit-check at the same time every 4 frames (assuming you are at the breakpoint). In PvP people use grief beast because the fanat aura adds attack rating and damage to the first free hitcheck for your main hand grief. If you are doing long whirls in PvM that first hit-check advantage isn’t very important-more damage is. Hence grief*2. But in PvP where you usually only get a chance to hit someone once before they leave your screen, it’s best to have more damage on that first hit.
