I did have a little better luck than you, though. At around level 64 I found the polearm and the plate below and before that I was using a lvl 45 axe with a 62 EE lvl 45 padded robe that I found in the low 50s.

This thing made the last 7 or so levels of my climb so much easier.. Too bad it can't be used on samurai
