Hey all. I have been thinking of finally trading in my old 2011 bmw 335i 6spd manual transmission with 40k miles for a more versatile car. I have been out of warranty for around 3 years and already had to replace my (i think) fuel pump. I hate the idea of paying out-of-pocket for maintenance on a bmw.

I am thinking of getting a 2018/19 4Runner Limited. I know most people recommend buying used cars, but I tend to hold my cars on for a long period of time (see the BMW) and I really can see myself using the 4runner for a very, very long time.

Any thoughts or opinions? Any suggestions in cross shopping?

Thanks!

Did he at least have the 6 cylinder?

The 22res are a lot like the 7.3 Ford's, not enough power to hurt themselves, so they run forever

Having less than 100 hp in a "truck" is just useless though

Ya, I believe it is, and he just uses it to go down trails and for fishing and stuff like that. Once in a while he plays in the snow with it, but he has lots of toys so it doesnt get much action anymore.

I had bought one for the engine, couldn't figure out why people would bother with the 4 banger version, it was like driving a lawn mower

My mother has had her 4 runner since 2001 & it still runs/looks like new.

Would recommend tbh.

As with any car, I suggest doing a Google search to see if there are any known recalls on any vehicle before purchase. And if there were, make sure they have been repaired before you buy.

I have 2 4Runners and one of them is a 2017 Limited. Really no difference between the 17-18 years. Amazing ride, easy and cheap maintenance, plenty of room. Only thing I’ll be trading it in for is when the update the body style again ;)

Edit, the reason I have 2 is because when I bought the 2017 Limited for my wife, I liked it so much that I had to have one for a daily too.
