Or something like that..basically my routers ports are all being used..and I need something to give me another port

its called a network switch
small 4 port switch should run you like 20-30$

change.ca to .com if needed

you run 1 Ethernet into the switch (from router/modem) and the other remaining ports become active so to speak.

Thanks I have another question..say i have another device next to my comp that uses a 100ft cable to the router..do I need to buy another 100ft cable or is there something I can plug into my comp that I can use a short cable to the other device..if that makes sense lol

with these they essentially turn your houses electrical wiring into a network.
you need a device in the outlet not a power bar and you run a small cable
from the pc to one and one small cable from the router/modem to the other.

I have a 24 port switch you can have for free if your in wa state :) got a few for free while upgrading work network. Used for around 1 year still in great condition.

550.00 switches if new lol. The install techs needed me there while doing the upgrade and said they just toss all old hardware. Still trying to think of something to do with them lol. If he lives close I would rather not see them just sitting around in my closet :)

You could just have the switch hooked up next your PC and other device, and run the 100ft cable to that there. The switch doesn't need to be right next to the router.
