i got a ebotd war pike but i'd like a switch gear vs sorcs that tanks a little too since some glass canons dont even have the life to tank a 1hander hit


i had a 365% ed death col sword eth, i unsocketed it and made a grief 36 382 in that same col blade. The base ED is 12.

I've tried quickly and i think of going back to death col sword, does anyone have any advice about 1handers in pvp?
some poke barbs dont get much dex at all, which means no block which means my hybrid isnt great
any advice?
of course grief PB would be more bang for buck but the range is terrible! col blade 5os is hard to find..... im just unsure whats best!

also other question: do poke barbs with ebotd war pike Max out Whirlwind?

Strange... well to answer your question, ebotd-wp does hit max ww. Typically affordable barbs are played: BVC = 2 handed, Grief-BA (34ias) + Beast-BA, or BVA/BVB = Grief-BA (34ias) + Stormshield (max block). As you stated Grief-PB suffers the range added for effective whirling.


Now if you have totally garbage for gear, or you like your ebotd-wp, then a demon limb, hotspurs and dual ravens would even the odds a little bit. You would still die, but probably survive 40 seconds longer and enjoy the fight a bit more.

welp gear wise im pretty set up

i got a 15 37 arreats and 15 39 stormshield, +2/13 faith, 20 ias gloves, highlord's... i also have anni torch and full max damage charms (20k+berserk w pike)
i just feel that the col sword and ED isnt used properly in grief but the difference isnt noticeable enough for me and im not a number cracker or an experienced veteran that just knows

The reason I like Grief is that it is totally predictable in terms of how many hits it takes to kill and opponent (speaker/headphone is needed). Min+400 damage on the low side and Max+400 damage on the max side. Based on that, I can calculate the worst case hit count I need to do to kill any opponent (except ES sorcs). This allows me to guage how I am doing in a fight without having to lock on to the opponent to check their health.


To calculate damage - you need ED, Str, 17% factor for PvP, multiply with 1.x %Critical/deadly, divide by 50% DR on opponent, blah blah, blah.. good luck!

I agree with you. You aren't loosing a large amount of damage, it's 20 IAS faster, the range is the same and you can save strength if you are only using enough for gear.

im leaning towards rerolling the death, but i might do it after some dur runs out... range 3 whirlwind as sword and board might be good, the ias from col sword to phase blade shouldnt be too much, the only problem is that only weapon ias affect whirlwind speed, which means i should calculate col sword at 36 ias which breakpoint i hit...

do pvp barb run up and use berserk or do they spin all the time
