215,000 on the 1987 302 in my GT. Racing a guy on the highway from a 70 roll in a charger with the 392 skat pack. I down shifted to 4th gear and hit my powerband when we took off, shifted into 5th around 100 or so ( I have the original 85 mph cluster so once its pegged who knows unless I have my phone speedometer on) around 130(estimated my car tops at around 140 with the t-5 tranny and 3:73 rear end) or so and my car starts to spit and sputter, so I let off. When I did it fucking stalled out and I lost power steering and brakes I waited until highway speed and dumped the clutch and started it in 5th..
Next thing I know, smoke starts coming through my shifter and I see a cloud of fog behind me. Blew the valve cover gasket at least and oil ran down onto my plugs on the right bank and then onto my manifolds. I had a minor leak before, but now the flood gates are open. I think I'm going to drop the 460 in it for the summer and make my 302 a 347 stroker for next year. It's been beat to hell and needed a rebuild for a couple summers, but I just kept driving it. What do you guys think? Should I go the easy route and change the valve cover gaskets and beat it until something else gives, or just go balls deep and do it all?

Man I would never hear the end of it...lol I do have a 6.0 too, but the 460 is in a vehicle I don't use...lol I want to put it back original as far as numbers go, the cars 32 years old, and going up in value thanks to barrets idiots.

I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't think the foxbodys are going up in value very much :lol:

they are... especially unmolested examples


460 is so heavy and in stock trim the power/consumption to weight just dosent make alot of sense


the coyote motor is so fucking expensive to aquire let alone mod it, that dosent make sense either


the thing that makes the most sense to me, is unfortunatly either just do a junkyard LS or throw parts at the small block ford

The 460 option was the cheap one for me, because I already have one with all the wiring and computer. I think I might swap it for this summer and make the 302 a 347 stroker and have it done for next summer. Budget is wrecked right now switching businesses, I invested a lot of my cash into that, so don't have much to just go out and get it done by a shop right now. I would never hear the end of it from my friends and other mustang guys if I LS swapped it.
