What kind of answer are you looking for here? What kind of unit of measurement do we use to describe danger? Do you want someone to tell you that if you use Oculus then your odds of making it to level 99 alive will decrease by 11%?

If spirit is an option, use it over occy. Simple.

If I were playing hc on a mode where spirit isn't an option (nonladder/sp), then I'd only use occy if I was MF'ing an area of the game that I felt no real danger from (such as if I was much higher level than the enemies).

I use it on my sorcs every ladder and it’s never caused a death, it’s all dependent on the rest of your build and most importantly where you’re running. It’s exponentially more dangerous in say chaos than it is in ancient tunnels. On hc when using a sorc for mf I never step foot in chaos or world stone. Yet I still farm mass gg’s and make a lot of fg.

A few tips for your build if you do use occy. Use shako/ss to hit 45% dr. Enough dex for a Minimum of 50% block, most ppl go max block but I usually go 50%.

And for me the key is the merc, utilizing him purely for defense(tho this merc can pack a punch as well ofc) Holy freeze merc ofc with reapers roll, trechary and Andy’s. 90% of the time if you tele to close to a pack the merc will proc decrep almost instantly slowing and weakening them. Pair that with holy freeze and your block/dr% you will almost always have time to escape nearly any situation.

Again however with such a build I avoid the most dangerous spots, chaos, world stone/baal, nith etc.
