I unfortunately did not play past level 20 in vanilla WoW, but I am excited for the upcoming release of classic WoW.

I wanted to ask though, based on your experience, how were Rogues and how were mages?

Below I have some specific questions:

1) Which class required longer cooldowns in order to be effective?
2) Which class had a better time in battlegrounds?
3) Which class had a better time in open world?
4) Which class had a better time in dungeons / raids?
5) Which class was better at soloing?
6) Which class had more 'outplay' ability?
7) In a situation where a rogue or mage had to do 1v1's with other classes, back to back, which class would fare better? I guess this goes along #1.

At this time I am leaning more towards Mage..seems to be better all around for each of my concerns.

Thanks!

1)
2) Rogue
3) Rogue
4) (Personal preference) for me, Mage
5) Mage
6) Rogue & Mage (both)
7) Mage & Rogue (both)

Start with mage and later on when you get bored of it, roll an alt rogue

A lot of these come down to preferance and playstyle

1) I would say they are about even. It varies with spec.
2) premade, mages are far superior. Rogues are better for soloplay because you can pick your fights
3) mages in any pve situation and most pvp situations. Rogues only to pick their fights again.
4) Vanilla raids were not very melee friendly, but mage literally spams frostbolt until you are no longer doing bwl. They are both very good in raids buti think mage wins slightly especially after you get into naxx
5) mage
6) Both have very high skill caps
7) Both are strong in 1v1 situations
