Having an issue with my keyboard.

Basically I'm trying to recycle an old Dell Dimension 5100, to turn it into a workstation on a kvm.

When I plug my shared USB keyboard directly to the computer (no kvm), it gets power (backlit) but the bios does not respond to it.

If I plug in another usb keyboard, the bios works just fine.

The computer has no ps/2 ports, so ps/2 adapters is a no go.
There are no usb bios legacy support options, so unless it can be changed from inside an os through settings or command line, then there's no way to test that as the issue.

Any ideas or possible solutions?

Perhaps, it works fine when I boot into any system, and it works fine on the bios of my newer computer.

The only alternative I've come up with is that it was designed as a 32 bit system by nature, and so it was not given legacy bios settings, which would be required to operate the keyboard as it is newer and perhaps designed with 64 bit systems in mind.

It is relevant because I have put an "unsupported" dual core cpu in it, that requires a bias prompt keypress to bypass.

Otherwise it would be a non issue.

I highly doubt it would be a 32bit/64bit issue as keyboards will still function as a basic USB input device regardless of system versioning.

Do you know what the model of the keyboard is? Is it the stock Dell one?
