I wonder how many of his supporters or those apathetic or pleased with this decision are constantly blaming trump and his supporters for acts of violence and hate
I've read articles recently where people are trying to tie hate crime increases to areas of trump support and rallies and it hasnt sat well with me especially when so many do not stick to their principles and exaggerate about the opposition and excuse the tribe
This was an injustice. I dont think anyone should excuse it. That doesn't mean I want him caged but there is a case there and the leniency should come after he is found guilty of his crimes, not used to prevent any form of accountability.
Thoughts everyone?

okay get this
this is not confirmed yet since we're still pending details BUT
apparently this is how the "logic" of the prosecutors went:
>judge mentioned in court how Jussie has previously done community service volunteering (
not as part of a plea deal, not an order- but talking about his
previous volunteering
>the prosecutors are claiming that if convicted, he would only get community service, which he "all ready served" so there is no point in charging him.
if that's what actually went down, I'm fucking flabbergasted
https://twitter.com/RaferWeigel/status/1110563447895408640?s=19Rafer Weigel was the guy breaking the story reliably when it was coming out, so uh...
fuck me, that's the dumbest fucking shit I've read all week and I've been on /r/politics during the mueller meltdown
that makes such a mockery out of the law. That's not how the law works. That's not how logic works. That's not how anything works.

edited to include;
https://twitter.com/RaferWeigel/status/1110563447895408640?s=19he was reliable on the story details as it broke, and has a real source in the CPD
so this is for real. The prosecutors are actually rationalizing dropping 18 felony counts and letting a guy scot free on a high profile national case despite buckets of evidence because he... landed on a get-out-of-jail free space a dozen turns ago?
what
what
/e also its being reported that Kim Foxx was the one who pulled the trigger on dropping the charges, and she was the AG that was supposed to recuse herself?
even for
chicago this isn't believable.

>Chicago police officials said Supt. Eddie Johnson was not briefed on the decision to drop charges and learned about it in the middle of a police academy graduation ceremony scheduled at the same time Foxx’s office announced it.
>A CPD source said Johnson was “furious” and maintained the evidence against Smollett was “rock solid.”

besides the plenary indulgence coupon, consider the other illogic-
the DA is saying that they consider this a just disposition & appropriate resolution
but Jussie Smollett is maintaining he was truthful the entire time and was attacked in a hate crime
so either Jussie was guilty of lying to the police, or there are still two racist attackers out there posing a danger to the public
so if the DA is going to pretend that Smollett is innocent, then they should be calling for a search for the two "real" attackers. Even though Smollett basically acknowledged that it was the two nigerians, who he as on the phone with the throughout the day and writing checks to
