Part of the reason I thought Trump colluded was his reaction to the investigation. It seemed like a totally ridiculous way to respond, but I underestimated his recklessness, paranoia, and lack of knowledge of how the government works.
And maybe there was kompromat that the FBI couldn't figure out. It's not like US intelligence agencies are omniscient.
We are playing with kleptocracy as a form of government. It is okay to grapple with things. Policy people have failed in the past...your Obama and Carter's....your tough guys have failed...Reagan and Bush...Trumps is neither and runs things more like a crime organisation and the cabinet reflects this as nobody is trusted, power is not shared, lack of transparency at all levels, no formal decision making processes besides how a dude is feeling that day. Even on the best of these cases you end up with Hugo Chavez, who ran his country effectively, but did not institutionalize anything, and his actions in government lasted until the day he died....nation of men not laws etc.
It's okay to grapple with things. I think a lot of people who voted for Trump, non-politically informed people who don't like politics or politicians, were under the impression that he was a good businessman, not just a reality television entertainer.
