why did they feel the need to overwrite his scar with a different one, then proceed to make it no longer look like an actual scar? i dont understand it.

Maybe it's a weird wound/scar thing that's healing?

new injury overwrote his old one in intensity.
his old scar just looked like simple burn scar, likely from his job of making and selling charcoal.
new one was more of a flesh wound coupled with the fact it was in an area weakened by scar tissue already.

ya i got that much, it just didnt look very good. it seems kind of unrealistic compared to all the other scars we've seen in the show.
hopefully its just still healing.

Never noticed it when I was watching through the 6 episodes... maybe a new artist took over and just made an error, which is bad because the original images are saved for consistency.

Well, looked into the episodes from 1-6, the change happened in 6, but, the intro to the program shows the different scar already. Going to say that his scar was re-opened in episode 5 (Trial) and with the healing he got from his teacher at home, the scaring reformed. Also, we could go another way in combination that when he got his sword (since scar was still covered) and the color was revealed to his blade, it also assisted in the appearance of the scar.

I have to admit, great spotting from you though... never picked up on it, most likely because most of my attention is to reading.

ive rewatched the show 3 times now, so maybe it was easier for me to spot it when they first changed it.
yeah idk, maybe it is because of one of those things. im curious if they plan on touching on that subject at all.

i mean it looked a bit weird, but what these guys are saying makes sense.
with the healing and the scar reforming, i agree that they went about it weird tbh if they wanted to add that new scar they should have layed it over the old burn mark instead of removing the burn entirely.

but like dont let that bother you... this show is fucking fantastic.
i could not have asked for a better show this season, the animation, the action, the story all of its a 10 from me.

I kind of agree with Marley on that point though.

Especially coming from a studio like ufotable.
