And we all know its mislabeled 2k is horizontal pixels close to 2000
2560x1440 is 2.5k as you could say
4k is 3840
8k is 7680
16k is 15360

I realize that "technically" he is right but that isnt my argument.

My argument is how the market advertises 1440p, so when I say 2k which we all know is really 2.5k it isn't marketed as such. So why come into a resolved thread just to make a dumb statement?

But to reiterate, if you wanna buy a 1440p monitor it will be advertised as a 2k monitor. Not 2.5k or whatever is technically correct

Not sure if manufacturers are doing it now days
But 1440p is a real standard either not sure if they started advertising it as 1440p yet
They usually use the letters like fhd qhd etc to describe the resolution and put actual resolution on the box

For tvs I believe It's advertised as WQHD I could be wrong tho, for monitors recently (2-3 years) 1440p has been synonymous with 2k even tho 1080p is closer to 2k then 1440p.


Idk i don't write the rules here and Idk why they market the way they do, I just get annoyed at people coming into a thread to correct something so minor without contributing anything else, just a pet peeve of mine.

It's actually incredibly common for people to market 1440p as 2k, even my local microcenter does it.
That being said, I agree and you're completely right, but I stopped trying to change people minds a year ago because everyone is sheep.

until then, people will refer to it with how the majority advertises it as.
