Usually depends on what type of music you're trying to make. If you're a beginner, dabbling around with FL Studio can be good for teaching fundamentals. If you're looking to make more acoustic style music, I'd recommend Logic, or ProTools. If you're looking to make electronic music, I suggest using either Propellerhead Reason or Ableton Live.
