Running slow in general or when performing specific tasks?

Did you check your Startup programs list? Perhaps you have some or several starting up.

Also check task manager and see which programs are taking most of your resources.

Another cause could be one of these annoying browser toolbars/search redirect virus like babylon or similar.

CPU seems a bit high temperature if you are just idling. I have a similar CPU, i7-4900MQ and with just Chrome and Speccy open it runs much colder. https://imgur.com/PCbioPH
You might need to dust it a bit. Try gewt a compressed gas duster for electronic devices, turn off your laptop and blow your vent(s).

That shouldn't speed up your laptop but it's a good habit.

I'd recommend checking hard drive health too. You'd be surprised how often the health of the drive is the culprit for bad performance.

What kind of computer? Custom or OEM? Part list?

Run Winver.exe to see what release build you are on also, some of the older builds had performance issues that have been improved on greatly.
