Hello

I bought a new headset, and it has both usb/3.5mm jack connection
- When i use usb connection, it works, but there is massif static noise in the background.
- When i use 3.5mm jack, i only get the windows startup sound, nothing else..

I've tried to reinstall the audio drivers for my mobo (Asus p8p67 pro)
I've tried reinstalling the firmware for the headset

Still doesn't work!

Any tips on what else i can do?

Make sure you have the headset selected as your audio output. What mother board do you have?

Fixed: i re downloaded the audio drivers again and rebooted. Works fine now.
Don't really know why it didn't work the first time though..

If you're using the 3.5mm plug, you want to choose the sound card/onboard audio as the default playback device. The headset device would be if you were using USB.

Also , check your device manager if using Windows 10
Depending on the Win 10 Build (1607, 1703, etc) Windows had this annoying feature to allow windows to determine which device you were using and it would sometimes just say, "Nah we are using this one get rekt!"
You can disable it in Settings>Devices
