Less likely that it's an artificial solar sail.

Being alien tech automatically reduces the odds below coincidence for simple phenomena like this.

1 it is the first interstellar traveler we have seen...2 it also is the first having gas coming out just in the right direction to add speed? odds seem more likely it is remnants of a Alien space craft .. Your logic is bias against Aliens :P

Gas coming out in "the direction to add speed" just means in the direction of the sun, which is what you expect from any object that will emit gas naturally since the suns heat is what provides the heat to gasify whatever is being emitted.

It being the first one just means its the first one. It isn't an argument for or against any origin.

"remnants of an alien spacecraft" is a giant leap in logic. What's more likely? A space rock has a weird shape, or this object was built by an alien race and traveled lightyears before swinging by our solar system?

Doesn't take a genius to see which is more likely.

natural gas engines made from ice ... I Think if we crunch the numbers..We would know if ice engines possible, or not..Depending how long it sped up as it passed through. As we do not hear all the evidence possible...And get too the facts ...Alien cover up ?

Natural gas engines as you describe it are incredibly common. Anything that has ice on it exhibits this behavior.

The speed-up was consistent with an increase due to this phenomena.

The only thing that made oumuamua interesting is its shape and its origin. It has an oblong instead of spherical shape, which isn't usually seen within the solar system. Since it's the first thing we have identified to come from outside the solar system we don't know if that's common or uncommon outside of the solar system.

Can you give me 1 example of how common it is? Show me one rock moving faster because of this type of reaction from melting ice? Most rocks out there rotate gas is not coming out in 1 direction only.. The amount of change in the trajectory is pretty significant compared to the rest of these natural ice engines we have observed before? If we even observed a change at all in any object ..

Comets are in an orbit, and since this is the first thing we've ever seen that isn't in some kind of orbit the behavior wont' be exactly the same.

However, it's basic astrophysics (as in, the introductory astrophysics course I took at uni) says that as comets get closer to the sun their orbit gets more eccentric due to acceleration from the gas being ejected towards the sun. Gas won't leave the comet randomly, it will leave on the side that is facing the sun at the time of absorption of the solar radiation, so it doesn't matter if its spinning. The object emitting the previously frozen gas will be accelerated away from the sun.
