You're an object when you play a professional sport and you're paid damn well to be owned. If the organization doesn't want to risk a Suggs-esque injury (thanks Terps. I remembered this happened in a pickup game, but couldn't remember who/what was involved) and would prefer him to stay in shape by training in less risky/more traditional ways, that's their prerogative and there's nothing wrong with telling him to refrain from a particular activity.
I can understand people disagreeing with the level of control, but regardless of your personal opinion, it's understandable why they'd ask him not to play and I don't get the rage over it.
