Even pick up games are pretty high contact a lot of the time.

Yeah depending on who you're playing with, you'll sometimes get the big guys that have no damn clue how to play but all they do is drop elbows and body people every chance they can get.

Stupid

Watch him get a dumb injury from not being loose because he's not active in the same way because they are forcing him out of certain offseason activity.

Guess he shouldn't train at all because he might hurt himself.

The contact they sign originally gives the teams the rights to tell them can’t do things that risk injury like basketball or skiing etc. so not sure why your mad, it isn’t new or surprising. They get paid a lot of money and there body is a business and the teams are renting that business for a yearly fee. Pretty much how you have to look at it

This.

You're an object when you play a professional sport and you're paid damn well to be owned. If the organization doesn't want to risk a Suggs-esque injury (thanks Terps. I remembered this happened in a pickup game, but couldn't remember who/what was involved) and would prefer him to stay in shape by training in less risky/more traditional ways, that's their prerogative and there's nothing wrong with telling him to refrain from a particular activity.

I can understand people disagreeing with the level of control, but regardless of your personal opinion, it's understandable why they'd ask him not to play and I don't get the rage over it.

Ten guys jumping up and down in a small proximity and flying at each other (without pads/helmets) leaves plenty risk for injury with ankles/knees/etc. I can't blame the Chiefs for being upset.

Also, anyone that thinks basketball isn't a contact sport has never played at a competitive level

Good points, also some of the most gruesome injuries I've seen came on a basketball court (kevin ware, gordon hayward, etc)

Matter of fact a lot of the times torn acl's even on a football field are non contact injuries, and those are the ones that ruin careers

The words "some of" played a key part in what i was saying, and i know they were non contact injuries that was kind of the point i was trying to make

I saw the picture of that on TMZ, 24 stitches, looked brutal.
