I have power settings set to "never turn off" and "never sleep" on both battery and unplugged. I have windows update off completely. I'm running windows 10 and for the past couple weeks EVERY night I go to bed with my laptop on and open and wake up to it being off; WHILE PROGRAMS ARE RUNNING;I am about to throw it out the window.
Does anyone have any input or advice on why windows 10 literally always ignores my input and does whatever it wants?!
Also on a side note it will also turn windows defender on without my permission frequently. I play some private server games and windows auto quarantines and deletes files that force re-route ip's and I have gone into settings countless times and set it all to off and it will literally just randomly reset itself.
Aside from getting linux what can I do to make W10 actually work....

Your screen going to sleep:
Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> Choose When to turn off the display.

Sleep and Display dim is different in settings, and using the Battery settings only changes the sleep options. Change the "Turn off the display" settings to keep your screen on permanently.

As for windows defender, it seems to automatically turn itself on unless you have an Anti-Virus system that does it's job itself active. So just get an Anti-Virus that will replace Defender in your settings and that should be fine. I use the Purchased Avast Antivirus and it works just fine for me.

Your screen is going to sleep, which tells the CPU to turn the laptop off.

Windows Defender is on 24/7 unless you have another FULL Antivirus Suite installed (Avast is awesome.) YOU CANNOT TURN THIS OFF OTHERWISE FOR SECURITY REASONS (re: Malware).

Did you try plugging it in and out?
Mostly helps.
Kind regards.

Which mode do you run your computer (power saving, normal speed, full speed) ?
And which of this mode you configured the pc to no turn off?

Sounds like you configured a mode, but use another.

You can permanently deactivate defender via local group policy editor

Right click windows icon
Goto run
Type gpedit.msc
Find windows defender antivirus under
Computer configuration > administrative templates > windows components

There will be an option to turn it off

As for your power issue, someone has already answered

You may also disable it via the registry but i wouldn't recommend if you are not computer savvy
