care to explain what this era consisted of?

levels meant something. experience was earned solo on the river, or maybe a 2 person MAX sorc/zon/nec combination. there was no such thing as rushing, or even cow runs. i can't explain how fun it was, playing the game as blizzard designed it.

until LOD was released and we all learned to love the party experience bonus, and completely changed the feel of the game. it went from the best goddamn experience of my life, to rushing and sitting in the cow level.

no homo but that community felt magical. playing a game of this calibre in its prime, new and fresh, before blizzard butchered it. i cant believe noone has recreated the experience. Maybe POE. i should give that game a better chance

Hell River of Flame solo or duo. Any other pointers. Been wanting to do a 1.03 run thru soon on my old ass cd's =D

Rushes still existed. I mean maybe not as fast as today, but the theme was the same. I remember rushing/getting rushed before LoD released.

I still play some Hardcore Classic today.

I was there. Martel was best wep. Glitch pop people's corpses and steal items. Good times. People actually played the game in any act etc because no one knew where the "best" mf spots were

Actually still got my 1.00 Diablo 2 CDs laying around somewhere in my flat.
But unfortunately had one of these pay per minute internet connections back then so couldn't start playing online before 1.10 came out.
But have been playing offline since the start!
