Currently rockin a pair of sennheiser HD205 II's.
I like them, and there great for music playback on my phone etc... so I'll be keeping them for that.
But for extended gaming sessions beyond say 2 hours they're uncomfortable on my somewhat larger noggin and leave my ears feeling bruised. They are also on ear, closed back, and bass heavy which imo so far prove to be everything I don't want for gaming.

I've looked into and read up on a few budget headphones I'm considering and would enjoy any additional feedback or experience if you have any to offer.

Samson SR850 60$
AKG K240 100$
Sennheiser HD559 100$
Superlux 681/681 evo ~65$
Superlux 668B 65$

I'm leaning heavily towards the Superlux 681/samson SR850
Due to the excellent price and focus on treble more so then bass.

Not interested in overpriced gaming headsets.
If I were to go headset I'd grab the cloud alpha or arctis 5 purely for comfort with decent audio.

My interests are in budget larger soundstage stereo headphones atm for FPS.

I have the Philips sph9500, comfortable as hell. Good soundstage, little weak on the bass but w/e. Might also be from low end mobo sound chip.

If they weren't 250$ +tax for me I'd love to have them. Most people cant seem to say enough good things about them as well.

Exactly, it's a headset. Not even close to what I'm looking for.
It's also closed back, again not what I'm looking for.
The mic is "ok" at best on a 350$ headset that I can beat sonically for 170$ on Amazon with an actual pair of headphones

You could easily beat the headset with headphones and stand alone mic while spending less. No question.
I asked about my listed pairs if anyone had any actual experience and or recommendations in my budget.

The 559 is far from shit, as are all the others.

I wasn't aware of that. Silly though that they'd be that much more expensive...
