Or maybe I'm a realist.

While large companies generally hire within first they still want references.
If I pick up a resume and no one internally refers them its going to tell me a lot.

I used to toss out thousands of resumes, you put up one listing and get 30k + entires even with an ATS in place.
No ones got time to read them all, we skim for a cpl good ones a trash the rest.

Our department is lucky enough to be allowed to screen our incoming applicants without having to pass through the HR AUTO SCREEN, which is basically a recruitment site that scans resumes for buzzwords and content, but you speak the truth on a growing problem with the job market for entry to upper-mid level jobs, ESPECIALLY in the technology field as countires like India, Vietnam, China, and Turkey seek to enter the US market more prominently. Do you take the single person who is a phenom with a dozen high level certs and can do the work of 3 people by himself at $135K, or 6 dudes who each cost $20k and can do the work of 3/4 of an average person but can be trained and adapted to meet your needs, and is completely expendable if they don't?

I would be a happy camper if we had more Citrix specialists, however with the rise of cloud solutions, I feel it is a dying market.

Fuck that noise!

I cannot stand that bullshit of "We want someone with 15 years of experience but want to pay like a freshly graduated intern!"

Just about all job listings do that, it's a ridiculous game.
