Hey guys, my old computer is outdated, and a piece of shit. Looking to build another one, as I would like to start playing anthem, destiny, and other upcoming games on pc.

Any help or advice is really appreciated.

Budget: $1000-$1500 (is that sufficient, or are better price to performance thresholds higher?)

More specific use (what games, what programs): anthem, destiny 2, other upcoming games in the future

Planned time until purchase: within the month

Do you need an Operating System?: I believe there are cheap methods of acquiring codes?

Do you have any specific preferred components?: not particularly, you guys are the experts.

Do you need a sound or wireless card?: no

Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: open to overclocking, as I enjoy tinkering with pc stuff (not experienced though)

Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: no

Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): Canada

If you guys need any additional info, let me know. Again, I appreciate all input!

Better cpu half the storage

or

Double the storage, slightly weaker cpu

If you do a lot of multi tasking go with option 1
If you need more storage and don't wanna wait for shit to load option #2

fuck ur bald, its not a platter drive like most igits would use for additional storage.
Its about #2 not #1.

Thanks man, I appreciate the builds. I lean towards option 1, as I can upgrade storage as required.

Will the 2060 be able to handle aaa games like anthem fairly well?

the 2060 is the recommended card so you should be fine.
You budget doesn't exactly allow for a better gpu regardless.

/edit
Well I guess you could buy a used gpu but thats a whole other process.

Trades a little bit of CPU performance for a nice jump in the graphics department, better unless you're really focused on high FPS on poorly optimized or just really intensive games (in which case you'd probably be GPU bound with the 2060 anyways).
SSD is slightly faster for the same price.
PSU is higher efficiency.

/e I should also mention that AMD's new generation of cpu's that are supposed to be a pretty decent jump in performance will also support that same socket, so you don't have to buy a new mobo/ram if you decide to upgrade the CPU down the line. (anticipated release around June this year for flagship models)

While I get the amd counter build I would definitely not claim anything about the cpu's in june.
I mean how many times have they let us down to date with their claims.

They've been pretty good with the zen series IMO (except how long it initially took them to push gen 1 out). And considering they've had engineering samples of zen2 out since fall (albeit epyc and not ryzen), I think June is a perfectly reasonable date, and also lines up with their release of the last 2 generations.
But you're right, there's no solid proof, but the other side of that is I doubt the OP is going to need to upgrade the day zen2 is available anyways. Wait a few months for prices to come down and stock to stabilize, and then upgrade if he feels he's still lacking on the CPU department, but I honestly don't think it will be a noticeable problem (my 1600 @ 3.8 ghz has no problem keeping up with my 1070 ti @ 165hz, although I don't play much for AAA titles).

Thabks for the differing build options guys. My question, what would be the performance differences between the amd and intel CPUs?

Also is that amd CPU available to be overclocked?

Finally, is there restrictions to what CPU, mobo, ram, and GPUs can be paired together?
