I like the shapes you got going, it kinda gives it a koi fish feeling.
But I'm not too sure about some of the overlapping. Mostly the red on white, the white on red doesn't bother me. It might also just be the opacity that bother's me? Not sure.
Also, on the right side, towards the center of the white shapes, it looks like a couple shapes were cut straight, possibly to fit the flow of the other white? But that catches my eye.
I'm kinda for and kinda against the background.
I love the mountain, sky, city, trees. but the top left corner could probably just be brushed off the edge and changed to sky.
The filter you used makes the shrine look low quality/pixilated. Or maybe it was a scaled up image, and was low quality to begin with? Or the filter is trying too hard to maintain some edges? Can't tell.
It doesn't bother me on the left side, because it's further back. But the shrine is a bit closer, and looks awkward to me like that.
Might be easier to use a simpler background, rather than trying to please me with this one
