This is be the first time really towing anything. Main uses will be a car trailer + a travel trailer. what size travel trailer would work well? what things would you reccomend for upgrades to make it pull better? already thinking i could use a better trans cooler, some better brake pads and rotors and one of those uhh sway hitch things, i forget what there called atm. 2010 tahoe

transcooler is a must imo

id get a temp gauge for it also

brake controller is a must

probably going to need airbags for the sag

id also make sure to get weight distribution hitch/load bars.

probably looking for something 25 or so foot

id keep it under 7500lbs if you can, im not sure what your capacity with that deal is

has a temp gauge stock. should probably get an aftermarket one though to replace it. i didnt think about the air bags though, that will def be needed. all seems pretty on par with what i was thinking. Tow capacity max is 8400Lbs but i dont think im going that heavy.

Average trailer weight for something comfortable would be about 5400 plus about 1500 if you load it full of your things.*e and water/food
Taking into account the strain for grade
I would keep it under 34 ft long

34 feet?!?!? My 32.5 bumper pull I had made my 3/4 ton cry and the air suspension on my 1500 wont even lift the prick. The fuck is this man going to do with a 34 foot camper behind a tahoe....

Listen to KoJ. 20-25 feet will be plenty behind that tahoe with a side wind. Get cheater bars, helper bags, and please make sure you got some good breaks under the tahoe and trailer. Just make sure you stick to the lighweight, featherwight, etc lineups and you'll be good to go.

I would advise against pulling it around full of fresh or grey/black water if possible. If you know you'll be needing to try to find a layout that places the tanks as close to the axles as possible. Try to keep your tongue weight in that 10-15% mark because keeping it in your lane and stopping it will be your two biggest worries.

yeah for sure. i plan on trying to pull it as empty as can be. local parks around here usually have dumping spots at the campgrounds with water hookups and power ect. no way in hell id go 25Ft+ with a tahoe lol, the base is just to small lol. suburban maybe id try it but not with a tahoe. its usually pretty flat around here, it only gets kinda hilly when you go way up north twards the U.P.

If you don't mind, grab something a couple years old. These things plummet in price terribly. It's pretty common to lose 40~50% of value in the first year on a bumper pull.

I gave 44k for my starcraft in 2015 and I'd be pretty lucky to get 10-12k for it today.

I don't think hills are going to be an issue for you. You've got power to pull it. Bumper pull campers are just horrible in a cross wind is all. The tahoe being a short wheelbase already just makes it worse.

I don't know a ton about the different brands but I can tell you they are all built exceptionally cheap, regardless of the name on the side.
