Perhaps the disconnect is that GGG thinks getting to act 10 is more than the vast majority of their players do (and maybe statistically this is true?)
Multiple times they have stated that they don't expect many people to be able to do any of the end game content.
I think us here on jsp are part of the top of the community for the most part. We, for the majority end up with 30+ challenges and downing all content
The players that aren't here I've found to be really bad at information retention, they don't want to read they just wanna plow through monsters d3 style without thinking
Maybe the majority of players really only do get barely into mapping before quitting and so what? as long as they have fun it's been worth it imho

isn't that sad? Finish act 10 and you'll get maybe 5 challenges done, so even ggg thinks it's only start of the game...
They should aim on keeping casual player retention to at least 12 league challenges, lvl 90 chr full ascendancy.
Then you have some merit in judging the game.
casual players aren't what drives this game, it's the long term players that come back every league or the people who play standard 24/7/365
moving the focus to casual players will make the game way too easy for the people who are pushing endgame, they would alienate their long term base (a decent amount at least) and end up likely losing revenue
sure the game has a ton of information to take in but there is a great community for the most part the wiki is one of the best game wiki's i've every played with
the tools to succeed are there, people are just being lazy while demanding everything be handed to them on a platter
