Andy's back....

...tell a friend.

Hey there, remember me?

Apologies for the lack of updates, I unexpectedly got a new job in September that relocated me, temporarily, to Bristol, Rhode Island.

I am one of the boat builders on the American Magic America's Cup team. It has been an incredible experience, to say the least.

Alas, this forced me to leave the 240Z behind as my timeline looked something like this....

September 9th leave for Rhode Island
September 10th (!?!?!?) new fuel cell arrives - first day of new job. Fack!

I am only able to come home to NY every other weekend. So eventually I got the new tank in, but still experienced leaning out issues. Finally tracked that down to losing sync...typical megasquirt problems. So long story, and a new crank trigger setup, later the car is ready to go....come spring.

In the meantime I picked up a new car to daily. I brought it home to NY to register it while on holiday break. 😊 A suitable e30 replacement for now, until I source the right sedan.

Current plans for this car

All fluids
IMS Solution
Clutch, RMS, water pump, while you're in there maintenance.
Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3s
Fabspeed Supercup exhaust
Porsche roof rack
Second set of wheels
Front splitter
Coilovers (ohlins?)

The car was originally sold in Canada so it's got the kilometer cluster. Just under 80,000 miles.

It has had a life, a couple past owners put some goodies on the car - Evolution Motorsports intake, headers, gundo hack, Lloyd mats....someone at some point loved the car....but otherwise its service history is unknown.

Engine has zero leaks, passed a leak down, and compression test. I boroscoped the cylinders and no scoring was evident. It has been repainted in a couple areas, but overall it is a perfect candidate for a driver. It's nowhere near pristine enough to be afraid to drive it. Especially in winter. I love the GT kit on the car. It drives beautifully.

A couple bugs to sort, but I look forward to wrenching on this thing. The top of the engine is spotless, which leads me to believe that the car may already have had the IMS done. The last owner passed away and his wife sold the car through their friend's dealership, a year later. She lost all records and knows nothing about the car, aside from wanting to get rid of the reminder of her late husband. But I have found evidence of care, like an oil change reminder for the next couple thousand kms. Performed at a Porsche Audi dealership.

I'm very excited for this project. I'm gonna give this car the love it deserves. I have always really liked the 996. No understanding of the hate the headlights get, this car is incredible to drive. And this particular car is set up aesthetically, damn near, what I want. I love the 2 piece 18" Sport Classic wheels.

and most importantly..... Mom likes it :)
