I have a spare 2 gb ram laying around and its compatable with my new laptop witch already has 8gb. How much better would it make my laptop by putting this in? As it is pretty difficult to take apart this 15 series hp laptop

it depends on if the laptop even has a second ram slot and if it does is it already populated 2x 4gb sticks.

to know just use open hardware monitor or cpu-z to see if you have dual channel ram, if it shows dual channel and you have 8gb that means its 2x 4gb sticks and to upgrade you would need a stick greater than 4gb.

90% of laptops have 1-2 slots

I repair them by the thousand each year, pretty sure I know what im seeing.

e/ thats not to say more slots on laptops dont exist, its just pretty uncommon.

Adding 2gb cant be bad. Take your time to not break any and male sure you wear anti static braces
