Budget: $300
More specific use (what games, what programs): anything
Planned time until purchase: asap
Do you need an Operating System?: no
Do you have any specific preferred components?: i5+
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: no
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: possible
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: no
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 16639

I'm currently using an i3-6100 with an rx 470 4gb, I want to upgrade to an i5 somewhere in the $200-250 range, I'm also using a Asus - H110M-E/M.2 Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard which I don't want to upgrade just yet, I just bought an MSI rx-580 8gb as well.

So basically looking for input on an i5 that will be compatible with what i currently have (i'll pay for promotion codes in fg if you have any)

Well here are the ones that are compatible with your motherboard, sorted by price....

I would keep in mind that the i3-6100 has multi-threading, and the i5's don't, but the i7's do. Also check which CPUs have a cooler included, and which don't.

Thanks, I already did this, I was looking for more advice then just a list.

I'm not really sure what performs best out of the i5's or cheaper i7's for gaming, I honestly only play GTA5 and path of exile

I'm honestly open to whatever, if there is a cheap mobo+cpu combo i'd consider it

ghot means hyperthreading, which is like a 10% uplift in multithreaded workloads and mostly useless for games if you've got at least 4 cores.
