the tl;dr of 99% of these situations is that google/facebook/youtube is nothing but a reflection of what the population thinks, says, and looks for. and we don't like what's looking back at us through the mirror.
i can vaguely agree, as this only vaguely describes some of the topic.
there were still a few separate cases of personal interest(s) pushing or attempting to push agenda through company power. we might even see some of those employees in the future because of this hearing.
most cases generally are "in my opinion" conspiracies. although it's noteworthy that most of these are "debunked" because we are taking the words of executives of google. they have not actually given documentation of any investigations done. they have only been saying "we checked into it".
since google has been less than straight-forward about huge privacy leaks, even in the very recent past, it does make it hard to take their word as 100% fact.
bottom line though, they are a private company that can do what they want to.
you need some serious proof that google is impeding the peace to really dig further into this.
1 other thing mentioned i did like, was the concern over ToS agreements. the ToS has been the basis of defense by google for most questions asked about privacy.
government reps showed deep concern of most people not really reading these. even if read, that it is changed too frequently to continue being read.
