the 960m doesnt seem to be used anymore and the 1050 notebooks cost a small fortune.

how about a mx150 with 8265u instead? will this make a huge difference for shit like d3?

Depends if it's the 10w or 25w mx150.
If it's 25w variant the difference aren't to much difference in gaming. In synthetic benchmarks the 960m will be 20%ish better. the 25w mx150 should do Diablo 3 ultra 1080p at 80fps avg.
