Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V

Im looking to upgrade my Gfx Card an SSD and 2-4 sticks of ram

Budget 500 bucks

SSD dose not need to be huge just good enough for a few games and the OS

atm i currently have 2x 4 gig sticks of DDR3 ram im assuming i will need to just replace these because it wont be easy to get two more of the same type etc

Ram should be compatible, just make sure you get the same speed that you currently have. Also getting the same same you have would even be pretty easy if it's a major manufacturer like Gskill or Corsair.
SSD is about the fastest you're gonna get on SATA, and I don't think your mobo supports NVME.
RX 580 is good for 1080p anything or 1440p 60fps, might have to tweak some settings in some games tho. If you want, you could spend more on a high end graphics card, but if you don't plan on playing at 4k or 1440p high refresh rate, really no point TBH.

GTX 580 =/= RX 580. Completely different companies all together.
If you wanna spend more get a 1070(ti) from Asus or EVGA.

Power as in wattage or performance?
Performance the RX 580 is between two and three times faster depending on the specific calculations, averaging around 2.35x the performance.
Wattage, the RX 580 has 185 watts TBP, the GTX 580 has 244 watts TBD. In other words the RX 580 is about 4 times the frames per watt used.

1070 and 1070ti are both better, but you do lose free sync (gsyc costs a premium).
